Felony cases heard at Grand and Central are usually transferred to the 26th and California Criminal courthouse in Chicago after a finding of probable cause. However, these felony matters may also be transferred to a different suburban branch courthouse in Cook County. Many of the felonies heard at Grand and Central are drug offenses, such as possession of controlled substances or cannabis. Misdemeanor charges such as disorderly conduct, battery and assault are frequently heard at this location.
